Building
Fire at the YMCA
On Sunday June 3, 2007
Lincolnton Fire and Boger City Fire were
dispatched to smoke in a commercial
structure at the YMCA on East Gaston
Street. Engine 1 from Lincolnton was
first on the scene to report nothing
showing. Once interior crews entered the
structure, they advised light smoke,
followed by heavy black smoke in an
interior bathroom/locker room. When
interior crews found the source, it was
a fan that had malfunctioned and caught
fire, therefore falling to the floor and
igniting the carpet. Crews checked for
extension and had an extensive overhaul
due to heavy smoke conditions. Crews
remained on the scene for one and a half
hours removing smoke from the structure.
Crews that responded were Eng.1, Ladder
1, Eng. 41, Squad 46, and Car 421.
