Trailer Fire at Belding Hausman
On March 21, 2007 Lincolnton and
Boger City Fire was dispatched to a
structure fire at Belding Hausman, ( a
large textile mill on East Main St. in
Boger City). Engine 43 arrived to find a
working fire in a transportation trailer
located in the rear of the structure.
Attack crews started extinguishment, and
determined the trailer was loaded with
approximately 42,000 pounds of fiber in
large bails. Ladder crews laddered the
trailer to cut a hole in top to
investigate how much fiber was involved.
Forklifts had to be used to offload the
fiber and spread out to be extinguished.
Crews from both departments were on the
scene for several hours soaking the
offloaded fiber.
